Below is a list of 7 of Cairo Top Instagram Spots. You know those amazing pictures of Cairo? You’re wondering where you can take these kind of beautiful Instagram pictures? You’ve come to the right place!
Cairo’s home to one of the last remaining wonders of the ancient world. It’s home to iconic architecture, chaotic streets and beautiful monuments. Kind of a dream for any photographer.
Known as the city that never sleeps, it’s the kind of city where every moment is worth capturing!
The Giza Plateau – Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx – Number 1 of Cairo Instagram Spots
Of course goes without saying, what’s more beautiful than a picture by the pyramids. In awe in front of such history is how I feel every time I go. Even though I could pass in front of them once a week, it still feels incredible.
You will need approximatively half a day to go around, take all the shots you can.
Most beautiful shots are from “the panorama” but you need to venture into the desert for less crowded shots.
Add of course another beautiful shot is the one in front of the Sphinx.
My favorite time to visit would be either around sunrise (though the plateau doesn’t open before 8 pm). In that case you’d need to take a horse and ride into the desert. Or by sunset (the sun sets right by the Pyramids and makes it an amazing sight).
Another hidden and beautiful Cairo Instagram Spots is: El Azhar Mosquee
This mosque is one of the hidden gems of Cairo. Located right in front of Khan Khalili and El Moez street it is a beautiful mosque and so worthy the shot.
Make sure to dress appropriately (otherwise they will give you something to wear to enter).
Khan Khalili – and the Old Cairo
A paradise for shoppers and photographers. Here you will be able to capture authentic Cairo. Get lost in the alleys and enjoy the ride.
Beware that most of the shops are closed on Sundays, so avoid Sundays.
While you are there don’t miss “the Fishawy” for a tea and a shisha.
Walk up El Moez street and get lost in the history of this street.
The Citadel of Cairo
Mohamed Ali’s Mosque is an emblem of Cairo’s Ottoman architecture, this mosque was once the largest in the world. The Citadel is the only one that is visible when you approach it from anywhere as it sit on the high summit of The Citadel.
Al Rifai and Sultan Hassan Mosque: another one of Cairo Instagram spots
Located underneath the Citadel, these two mosques are facing each other. My favorite is Sultan Hassan one that includes the 4 ‘madrasa’ but also a beautiful view to the Citadel from the window.
Al Rifai’s mosque is the resting place of a few persons, including the Shah of Iran.
Ibn Tulun Mosquee in Cairo
To me that’s another hidden gem in Cairo and a beautiful Cairo instagram spot. Not often visited but very worth it. Right next to it is the Gary Anderson Museum which is also worth a visit if you have time as it’s one of the few houses that remain with their original furniture.
Manial Palace in Cairo
Built by Prince Mohamed Ali Tewfik, it’s beautiful designed and a good way to escape the bustle of Cairo for an afternoon and enjoy the greenery.
Here is a list of do’s and don’t while in Cairo and in Egypt in general 🙂
