Head Over Hills Hotel in Knynsa
Head Over Hills – look at that view!

Head Over Hills caters for everyone. It’s a perfect spot to explore Knynsa. But also perfect for honeymooners, special occasions, small weddings / engagments. Not only but also for golfers ; indeed Knynsa is a dream destination for golfers. Head Over Hills has a preferred partnership with Pezula Championship Course with good rates and Golf clubs for rentals. It’s also an ideal base to explore Knynsa, hence why I choose it.

Winner of quite a few Awards Head over Hills won in 2016 & 2017 the Diamond Diners Club Award Winner. In 2017 the hotel was the Destinations Africa Lux Hotels Accolade Winner. In 2016 winner of World Luxury Hotel and winner of the Haute Grandeur Awards – best location category.

The day we arrived we were told there were at least 600 dolphins playing right in the bay in front of the hotel. We stayed there for 2 nights, and let me tell you we did not want to leave the hotel.

The Rooms at Head Over Hills

The hotel which used to be a villa comprises of 8 luxury suites. Each one with their own name – Dolphin’s Room, Captain’s Room etc.. All the rooms have ocean and/or lagoon spectacular views with en-suite bathrooms. Equipped with SMEG minibars with complimentary drinks for the guest, Nespresso machines, wine racks, wooden decks and sun loungers.

Each suite is decorated differently, you can even get one of them with your private sauna or a spa bath and fantastic amenities made for Head Over Hills. Of course turndown service is available every night, which is awesome!

The beds offer a unique sleeping experience. The imported Swedish Royalty Hastens handcrafted beds made from ethically-sourced pure natural materials give you a different experience.

The Facilities at the hotel Head Over Hills

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main area, overlooking the rim flow pool and the views. Romantic and relaxing are an understatement. The 2 chefs make incredibly delicious meals. Scroll down to find a couple of pictures of the food which was beyond delicious!

The rim flow pool is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy incredible sunsets. Or even watch the dolphins and / or the whales (if you are there in the right season).

Head Over Hills have their own walk in wine cellar which offers a unique selection of some of South Africa’s most sought-after wines. You can choose from a wide selection of vintages to accompany the perfect meal. Head Over Hills also has a wine club – every 3 month they send their members about 12 bottles of choosen wine.

On top of that wine tasting, as well as wine food pairing are available at Head Over Hills.

It was an absolutely fantastic stay that I’d recommend you if you are going to South Africa. Super worth it, once you go in you don’t want to leave! Thank you for having us, and a special thanks to Suwali, Ezca and Webster, and of course the great chefs – Iyvonne and Charmaine!
